Now blogging over at Onemanmanyplans.com.au

It's been real, thanks Blogger! Hey thanks for checking out this page! After 10 years of posting here and over 600 posts, it's time to try something new at over possibly greener pastures. Which means you can now find me and all my random adventuring ways over at One Man Many Plans .

The true meaning of Flo Rida's song 'Whistle'..

The whistle song? What's it about? Read on!

Controversial I know but I'm about to reveal the true meaning behind the Whistle song by Flo Rida. Why? Because I'm getting the general feeling that people around me are really missing the true spirit of Mr Rida's epic masterpiece...

We're getting right into the real Flo, yo.

After all this time, it's still all about that wisal baby song!
A lot of people have instantly taken it upon themselves to describe the song as a general unabashed ditty about oral sex. They claim that the song is the joy Flo feels when he teaches the joy of oral sex to any fine looking woman who has a large ass standing nearby. Obviously being a rapper, these people have surmised that from start to finish, the song is all about fellatio (and whistling) as Flo Rida's lyrics usually have the subtly of a platinum plated steam powered sledgehammer.

However this time these people are so incredibly off the mark, that there aren't any marks left within 100ks.

The song, 'Whistle' by Flo Rida...is actually about netball.

Yes, netball.

Flo Rida loves netball!
Well actually umpiring in netball to be exact.

You see it's a little known fact that Flo Rida is actually a fully qualified netball umpire and a massive supporter of this sport. Ever since he could rap, he could netball. His best friend in school? A netball. And when he graduated from Florida Tech, he majored in both Musical Theory and Netball with majors in umpiring. Now obviously there's a lot more money in becoming a rapper than there ever will be umpiring netball, but it's good to see that he's remained true to his (netball) roots. And just like 'Right round' (which is another song about netball, namely throwing a netball 'right round') 'whistle' takes a look at the glory of an action packed game of netball from the perspective of an umpire.

Only this time Flo Rida is singing about the beauty of training up rookie umpires and the importance of proper whistle blowing technique when calling fouls and starting rounds.

He gets so animated when he umpires! 'You! Toe the line!'
Take a look at a lyrical extract from 'Whistle' so I can further bash forward my point:

Can you blow my whistle baby, whistle baby
Let me know
Girl I'm gonna show you how to do it
And we start real slow
You just put your lips together
And you come real close
Can you blow my whistle baby, whistle baby
Here we go

It's a wonderful passage of Flo Rida passing down the secrets to sharp and succinct whistle blows to those new to the umpiring biz so that those on court can hear it. And being such a gentleman, Flo has even offered up his own whistle for demonstration.

A student of Flo Rida's. And look at how effective she has become!

It's like everywhere I go
My whistle ready to blow

You see, he's ready the instant a game of netball breaks out, anywhere. That's the sign of a true umpire, one whose ready to officiate the game at the drop of a hat. That's Flo Rida baby, whistle man extraordinaire!

Show me your perfect pitch,
You got it my banjo
Talented with your lips, like you blew out candles

He even shows appreciation of the effort put in by his students, passing out compliments to encourage more in depth whistle development.

A fit umpire is a good umpire.

It's a song about netball umpiring, people.

What were you thinking?

You can even grab the song from right here! (Now that you've learnt what the song is about, you might as well reward yourself with a listen..)

31/5 ADDITIONAL: Even social media is starting to become aware of the true meaning of it:

Correct!
Twitteriffic!
2/6 ADDITIONAL: The questions about this song have reached an international level! Welcome to all the Dutch visitors!

A rough translation: It has an ambiguous meaning. Play on the whistle may also mean: perform sexual acts with my male geslachtsdeel. But the song is about volleyball, and the arbitrator with his whistle.

What think you? He will not on its dwarsfluit have…

Never heard it called a geslachtsdeel before though...

Oh no.

His favorite netball is called Gary.

    Think about it.

    4. Easy questions there Angela - allow me to respond:

"I'm betting you like girls that give love to girls" - now what coach doesn't like female netball players who give other female netball players high fives and hugs for incredible plays and sportsmanship? That's team spirit!

Right round - 'throwing' a netball right around. It goes all over the court!

      Simple!

    5. Hey Angela, the song Right Round had its origins in the 80's when it was sung by a band called Dead or Alive. Honestly the song wasn't dirty or anything, it was quite nice... until the modern days came and remade it.

  40. Is this an American blog site? As someone who used to play team basketball (netball, whatever), and familiar with vulgar American slang because I live here and hear how vulgar idiots speak now and then ... there is no way that this is about basketball/netball. No way. And if it were, Flo Rida (an American r&b/rapper) isnt moronic enough to NOT know that he is using double entendres. If an umpire or coach told my daughter during basketball practice to come blow his whistle I'd beat the shit out of him and have his ass thrown in jail. At best, its a clean way of saying "come give me a blow job" on mainstream radio and make some nice cash. Nice try. Catchy tune, crazy inappropriate on the mainstream airway. Look at all the lyrics, all of them, not just the one line. Something else to consider... who the hell needs a lesson on how to blow a whistle? Learn the rules of a team sport, know when to make calls, but how to BLOW a whistle? Really? Come on. Why dont we just say this is a Christian song and be really naive.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Check out video. Sexy women in bikinis, close up of their asses shaking while dancing at a club... not playing a single "sport" and this verse: "I'm betting you like people
And I'm betting you love freak mode
And I'm betting you like girls
That give love to girls and stroke your little ego"

Girls that give love to girls? Probably when you foul someone in bball. Makes sense. :-/ I'm out. Enjoy the debate.

  75. Ahahahahah I just read this... Very impressive Almigo, you've managed to highlight one of the many flaws in the human population without a directed attack on any individual or group. It does make my faith in humanity waver though when I look at the sheer number of people that believed this.

  77. Yes, because I trust some random website with no credentials to tell me that this song that is obviously about getting your dick sucked is about being so nice that he lets you blow his whistle to learn how to properly blow a whistle as an umpire in netball..... stfu lmao that's the dumbest shit i've ever heard
