The adventures of Almigo

Oh dear, so close to completion and things just keep...ah...dying. We might have to go full engine transplant if this stuff keeps going on.. (EDIT: No no, I have now, it was inevitable..) What my system looks like at the moment..

It's been a while, so it's update time: It's up, it's working. Now it's time to tidy the damn thing up and get some controls in there...

With most of the structure standing (and standing strong!) it's now time to add a few bits and pieces to make it so heavy no one will want to steal it to really make this unit user friendly. Ready to go Joe!

At this part of the juncture the plans call for some wood. In the spirit of me being me and the project being able to outlast WW3, I've gone one better.. Let's see what Almigo comes up with here... Yes it's Mame Engineering time!

On one front things are moving quicker than a turbo fed circular saw. But on another the problem is terminal and has required some drastic measures... Here to cut shit up!

So I found the materials I need for this project, found the best price, went to the shop and got told they don't exist any more. Gah. So onto plan B - exactly the same stuff only thicker and for some reason, cheaper. Lady Luck obviously wants to challenge me to a game of Spinjammers when my cabinet is ready..

While I wasn't looking to create some kind of earth conquering super computer, even some kind of primary school intelligence would be a good start.. Going to take over the world. Maybe next year.

It's a one day before Christmas miracle! After some overnight parts from Japan* and a night on the whiskey and iced coffee syrup (goes well I found) my new caps were in.. INSTALLING, please wait..

You mean shoot your own project with a 9mm slug? Actually this thing might be more effective.. Well tempting true, but no. We're putting some new capacitors  in it.

It's been a pretty busy week in the shed as part of my arcade machine project, culminating in me wanting to douse my motherboard in lighter fluid and cooking my dinner off it.. I told you this wouldn't go as planned..

Yes I've decided to embark on my most ambitious project to date (well aside from changing a rocker cover gasket on a WRX, on a scale of what I can do that one was pretty ambitious) and build a fully functional arcade emulation machine for the back shed. Aka one of these bad boys. Probably not this one though.. Do I need a fully functional arcade emulation machine? No not really. Will I complete a fully functional arcade emulation machine? Well hopefully, that is the plan. Will I break things along the way? Undoubtedly, this is me we're blogging about. Am I in for a world of pain for doing this? Damn straight. Come join me, this should be fun...(ish)
