Legionaire - Slow Frank and the cranky Butler

It's school holiday time once more here in casa de Almigo and what better time to resurrect my arcade machine + computer project than now. Now the kids have thousands of games to choose from and I too get to discover things I haven't played yet - like Legionaire here where the idea is to punch bad guys in a bad land until there are no more bad guys to punch..

200 Games you must play (part 5 of 5) The missing list

Well we got there in the end - trawling through 200 games that 3 years ago Hyper Magazine reckoned we should have played or at least tried. And while there were some obvious choices in there (Skyrim, Witcher, Gran Turismo 2) there were also a few noticeable absences from that mighty list. Maybe Hyper just missed them? Maybe the staff behind the list didn't share my love of what didn't make the cut? Whatever the reason, here's a few more must plays I'm adding to my own list. So without any further ado, have you tried the following...?

200 Games you must play (part 4 of 5)

Oh god, it's the run home. The last 50 of Hyper Magazine's extensive 200 Games You Must Play list. At the start of this I figured I'd be lucky enough to have worked my way through even a quarter of what was on offer and with 75% of the list chewed through so far, all I need is 5 more in the 'yes I've actually played that' column to cross that milestone. Surely there'll be at least 5 in here I've hit the start button on? Will the Saint's get a look in here? Please?

200 Games you must play (part 3 of 5)

100 down, just 100 left in Hyper's interesting list of must play video games. We've had text adventures as well as hits from systems I've never even crossed paths with but surely in this next 50 there'll be more than a handful that I've actually put finger to action button? Will Wu Tang Taste The Pain make the grade? Let's find out! Surely?

200 Games you must play (part 2 of 5)

In the first 50 on Hyper Magazine's 2018 list 'The 200 games you must play' I found out I hadn't played many of them at all. As we work out way through the next 50, I suspect that low number I've clicked into will become a reoccurring theme.. Hopefully this isn't on the list

200 games you must play (Part 1 of 5)

Early 2018 and according to Aussie gaming magazine Hyper, there are apparently 200 games I must play.  No exceptions.  I mean that's what the front cover screamed at me when I walked past the stand in the library earlier today. It doesn't look like it's giving me much of a choice here. But as much as I enjoy the occasional game of Super Monaco GP and Commander Keen, I have a sneaky suspicion that at best that without reading the full list, I've probably played a quarter. Possibly less - undoubtedly the list of games I have played will be far shorter than the have not.  But there's only one way to find out..

Silent Dragon - no dragons, just cannons

We questioned where the actual cops went and why nobody understood the concept of undercover work last week with Undercover Cops , today though we're looking at a game about Dragons. Actually it's more about HAVING THE BEST ARMS EVER BRO.  Introducing Armfest 2000 Silent Dragon.

Undercover Cops - Wave your pole around in your jim jams

It's been far too long since we fired up the old Mame system and took a poke around some long forgotten roms  (In fact the last one was seven years back! ) So at a loose end tonight, I've fired up Undercover Cops from 1992.  A game that has nothing to do with going undercover nor has any cops in it it turns out..

My son the town planner

Well it was only a matter of time - after watching Dad drift around corners and most of the time not take out any barriers, save the princess from the Orcs of Orcdale and grab the power up to win the game, my little bloke has started to develop a keen interest in the occasional video game. And while most of the stuff I play is kept well away from his five year old paws (I don't think he's ready to roam the nuclear wastelands of the Fallout Universe til at least 16..) I have dug out a couple of classic kid friendly games from my own past that I figured he would well and truly gotten into. Everything old is new again in the eyes of a five year old as he takes on the role of both town planner and golf course designer...

When the Rock finishes his Rampage, we've got some more ideas for him

I read last week that The Rock (aka Dwayne Johnson aka The former most electrifying man in all of sports entertainment aka Do You Smell What I'm Cooking Now) is set to be part of one of the latest video game and Hollywood smash ups: Rampage. Do these monsters smell what he's cooking? And when he's finished ridding the world of George, Lizzie and Ralph - we've come up with a few more video game inspired films he might like to raise the People's Eyebrow at..

The man with no plan tries to book a wrestling federation

Lookout wrestling world, I've just discovered the brilliantly in depth Extreme Warfare Revenge wrestling simulator. And with the reigns of the WWE well in hand, I feel the power has completely gone to my head...

Growl - punch, kick, jump, rocket launcher!

Remember the brilliant arcade beat em up Growl? No? Then you better learn the ways of M.A.M.E my friend because Growl (or Runark in Japan) is simply the greatest beat em up of ALL TIME! And here's the reasons why...

6 Cars we had no idea existed...until we drove them in video games.

Thank the gaming gods for driving sims, otherwise we'd be completely oblivious to some wonderful pieces of automotive machinery out there, somewhere, legitimately churning up the dirt and tarmac (unless they turned up on Top Gear and I just missed that particular episode).. Not just the maddest car in Gran Turismo 2! Seriously, did you know about any of the following before someone shoehorned them into a video game?
