The adventures of Almigo

  Another day, another hour in the afternoon killed with a bit of arcade gaming history. This time we're jumping into the far future, into giant mechs and drilling our enemies to death in what really should be considered some kind of war crime.. Strap yourself in!

  It's school holiday time once more here in casa de Almigo and what better time to resurrect my arcade machine + computer project than now. Now the kids have thousands of games to choose from and I too get to discover things I haven't played yet - like Legionaire here where the idea is to punch bad guys in a bad land until there are no more bad guys to punch..

We questioned where the actual cops went and why nobody understood the concept of undercover work last week with Undercover Cops , today though we're looking at a game about Dragons. Actually it's more about HAVING THE BEST ARMS EVER BRO.  Introducing Armfest 2000 Silent Dragon.

  It's been far too long since we fired up the old Mame system and took a poke around some long forgotten roms  (In fact the last one was seven years back! ) So at a loose end tonight, I've fired up Undercover Cops from 1992.  A game that has nothing to do with going undercover nor has any cops in it it turns out..

My first Mame arcade project was a raging success  eventually marred by the fact that my cabinet weighed a tonne and wasn't practical to cart up with us from Melbourne to the Gold Coast. So I sold it. My second attempt at building something slightly smaller here on the GC (A control base to plug into a computer) resulted in a lot of carved plywood and a big mess. I eventually scrapped it not having the current facilities to finish it up. (I finished the top half roughly) My third Mame project? A raging success again only far smaller and stupidly cheap to boot..

A mystery computer complete with big screen and wireless keyboard? All for only $30? Gumtree you impress me once again. Now to find out what's in this thing...

Remember the brilliant arcade beat em up Growl? No? Then you better learn the ways of M.A.M.E my friend because Growl (or Runark in Japan) is simply the greatest beat em up of ALL TIME! And here's the reasons why...
