It's super cold and war never changes in the garden

Thanks to a mate of mine at work sharing a great link, I've been having stupid amounts of fun searching for radio stations right around the globe (literally) and checking out what's playing currently on some of the most remote places to build a radio transmitter.

One of my favorites so far is tucked away in the northmost settlement of the world, where just over 1000 people get to enjoy one hell of a Fallout-esque soundtrack coming from somewhere in town.

Welcome to Radio Garden.

Computer, can we get in any closer?

Closer I say, closer!

Not bad but I reckon we can zoom in just a little more here...

Ahh there we are! That's where our signal is coming from! And the name of my new favorite station outside of Australia?

Ahh there we go. And I'm not the only person to discover the wonder of this stream, apparently a tonne of fans from Portugal blew up the servers just last year.

I'm yet to hear anything but old songs on there (it might be the times I'm tuning in but I haven't heard ads or an announcer yet) but so far there's a fair bit of stuff that sounds like what you'd expect when tuned into the radio stations while stomping around the nuclear wastelands of the Fallout gaming universe, taking on ghouls and raiders while some 1940's song about the joy of owning a hat is playing. 

Also given where it's located and the name of the station, it also conjures up images of the base in Aliens Versus Predator where a team is dispatched to investigate the mysterious pyramid. The one that turns up near Razorback Point Whaling Station.

You could just imagine Artic Outpost radio happily bopping away to an abandoned station while murderous creatures awake just a short distance away..

(This would also fit quite well in the theme of 30 Days of Night.)

Now I'm super keen to load up Fallout, load up this station in the background and roam the wastelands looking for trouble (and shells for my combat shotgun).
