It's been a short week work wise, it's been a huge week launch wise. And rather than just stroll home, engage the recliner as far as it can go and sleep the entire rest of Friday after my first week back on breakfast radio after forever, it's straight into the car with a three hour drive ready to celebrate the wife's 40th.
And a lot of the way I've had Joey Scarbury in my head..
80s TV WAS THE BEST TV
Since every Friday it's all 80s music all day, we decided our talk topic should also be related to that amazing decade (and technically the first I got to experience) hence the question - best 80s TV shows?
I started with Married with Children and Lu nominated Doogie Howser but with the chat across the show and the input from the Facebook page (you just can't do a show without one!) so many memories came flooding back.
I loved Knight Rider before the Hoff discovered his love of red swimwear. From the Royal Melbourne show I bought the Knight Rider showbag and had my pencils for primary school in a pencil case with David's head on it. Then there was Airwolf, the adventures of an attack helicopter...and that's all I remember of the show. Also the A-Team, Danger Mouse, Roger Ramjet and HeMan. DeGrassi Jnr High and 21 Jump Street.
Let's be honest, we could've talked 80s TV good and bad all morning.
(The Joey Scarbury incident happened due to someone online mentioning The Great American Hero, believe it or not..)
BEST OF MULLETS
It's Mulletfest this weekend in Albury and I figure by the time we roll back home after a weekend trip to Bendigo, we're sure to see a few still about, lurking in the world. Personally I love the categories in this novel fund-raiser: vintage mullet, extreme mullet, rookie mullet, grubby mullet..
Actually come to think of it I'm not sure I want to know about the judging criteria of that last one..
AND WHY THE DIARIES?
I have a handful of memories, mostly good things but some misfortunes of course naturally of my last breakfast run and that lasted seven solid years. But with so much that happens daily, so many stories, adventures, instant coffee and chat over time...I've forgotten a lot. And I mean a whole heap. And I never really wrote down what I did outside of a few stunts in my first book.
Which is why I'm jotting them down here for this second run because already I'm struggling to remember some of things we talked about day 1, diary 001. That's tiredness kicking my ass from pillar to post and a lot going on both on air and off, hence these daily notes.
It's that awesome song from the 90s by Filter:
'Can you take a picture? Because I won't remember..' I'll look back on these entries one day...maybe after some more sleep c:
Chat again Monday!
