Whelp, I've injured a little finger and sworn at my phone. And this is a good hour and a half before I even got into today's show!
WALKING WOUNDED
At some stage of this early morning while wriggling around in bed to get comfortable, I managed to jag my little finger in a bed sheet. As I turned one way four fingers went went me, the other jarred itself in the opposite direction somehow and I bolted awake with one hell of a sore hand. At the time of posting it's still a little sore but it's not broken and since I can still curl it without wincing, that's a win really.
ALWAYS RUN A BACKUP
It rings true for most things really - your operating system, any and all recording systems, battery powered everything and in my case morning alarms. I have one at 4:30am weekdays followed up by one at 4:35 and then a last resort backup at 4:40. The theory being that I may sleep through one but odds are great that I won't be snoozing through the 2nd or 3rd.
And luckily the backup woke me this morning because the initial alarm failed to fire. Or maybe it did but the Mornify app I use on my Samsung didn't play the song I selected. Because you can pick the songs you wake up to and that's twice now a song has failed to fire which is not ideal when you're relying on it to rouse you from a hopefully deep slumber. So now I'm on the hunt for an alarm app that uses the songs I have on my phone rather than Spotify - a pity really, Mornify has been my go to for a few years now. I'm open to suggestions, holler if you've got one.
MORE LOCAL THAN A LOCAL
We chatted to a local member about funding for the local hospital, chatted footy with AFL great Wayne Schwas, got into the big Aussie bands taking the stage for the Red Hot Summer Tour this weekend, reflected on suits and fascinators for day one of the Albury Gold Cup, the caravans and campers on at the caravanning and camping expo, revisited the Oodle chat and found out the weather was going to be great for the Jindera swap meet coming up Sunday.
Then when the show was all said and done, we popped round to Cafe 2640 for a massive brew. Luckily the hand didn't hurt enough to not lift a big bucket of the brewed stuff.
HI NORM
Norm the listener dropped by to pick up a prize and introduce himself. He loves the banter each morning between the two of us and the good vibes going on apparently and hearing that myself, that gives me a massive buzz.
If only there were more listeners like him out there. 'You keep playing the same song all the time!' Oh sorry, you want the music department. I can't help, I only clean the building..
TIS A BUSY FRIDAY ON THE WAY
We're chatting to Midnight Oil great Jim Moegine, talking all things 80's band t-shits (I have to admit that the only band t-shirt I ever owned was from The Tea Party and that was from the Transmission tour I never actually went to - definitely not the 80s!), playing all 80's all day (Flock of 80's Friday of course), painting the weekend proud across the morning and then following up with a podcast.
No quiet start to the weekend with this show!
IT'S NOON, NOW GET OUT
So it's a half day holiday here in Albury tomorrow for the Albury Gold Cup and that means at noon tomorrow, classes cease at my kids primary school and according to the latest email, teacher supervision ends then too. Obviously it's so everyone can go track side but I've met enough teachers in my time to know that most of them would probably prefer a trip to the pub instead. Luckily with this new breakfast role I'll be finished well before the pick up cut off time otherwise they may have had to roam the hallways of work for a few hours until I was finished..
Here's hoping my attention seeking finger calms down by then!
Chat soon!
