Bash for the Border - Round 7 - You got to pay to play. And I won't.

So it turns out Supercoach wants me to pay $25 and then it will let me know which players have been hit by a bus, which ones have been taken out by an ax wielding maniac and who has a note from their mum's explaining why they can't be there to lace up their footy boots this week.

If I don't pony up, I've going to have to do all that research myself. Or in my case, hope I get things right like I've been attempting to do all season and last long.

Fat chance Supercoach, $25 for a game I know I'm going to lose anyway? Can't see the point myself..

Rightio then, lack of funding Supercoach this year aside let's see what's happening in preparation for AFL Round 7 2022!

THE CAPTAIN

Is still the Bont, all hail the Bont! Although creeping up rather quickly is the always reliable Pendlebury so don't be surprised if the crown changes depending on how the two fare in their respective clashes this round.

THE OUTS

Pittonet has missed a round and in the latest saga, scored a miserable 17. So sorry Pitt, it's time to go. Taking his place on the RUC side of things (hopefully, it's under the Waiver Wire thingie until tomorrow) is Rhys Stanley from Geelong, represented by this random Valhallen:

A slightly better AVG and a thumping 121 score last week means I'd be mad not to give him a go on the field.

And since we're swapping out under performing players, sorry Wright but you're out too. And taking your place in the backup RUC and also FWD if need be category, we hopefully welcome Peter Ladhams, who if accepted will be represented by...a Leman Russ Tank.

Peter missed the first three rounds for whatever reason but has grown since then, increasing his score each round since he's been back in play. Which means by about the finals time, he should be netting me 1000+ points per game.

Theoretically.

THE OPPONENT

Matt's Crows - Matt's obsessed with the Adelaide Football club with five of his nineteen players being represented by the pride of South Australia. He's one up on me in winning game wise and one up on the ladder but if there's a chance to hopefully steal some kind of a victory in this bloody game, hopefully it's through toppling him so that's what we're going to do*

*Once I work out who I've actually got left to play with.

HOURS BEFORE THE FIRST GAME OF ROUND 7

So occasionally listening to the news each half hour while doing my breakfast show can pay off on occasion as this week I learnt:

-Pittonet will be out for a few weeks due to a knee injury. Which explains volumes how he only scored 17 last round and well and truly hammers home the importance of swapping him out. I'm happy to report that the first of the Waiver Wire's have come through and Stanley is now part of the team.

-Unfortunately that didn't ring true to Wright and so I found someone else to swap him out with. More about that in a sec.

-Dusty is back in the team but not ready to play. Okay then, he's on the bench til ready. Now that he's just a round or two away from getting back into the mix, I'm not making him a free agent anytime soon.

-McGovern is back! According to the stats, he's in the top 3 of the Flav's alongside the Bont and Pendlebury so I'm very happy to have his high scoring antics as part of this weeks line up.

What about the rest of the team though? Any injuries? Anyone not picked to play that I don't know about? Apothecary?

Okay so aside from the fact that there's enough players on the current injury list to create their own (crippled) league, thankfully none of them are current members of our team.

Well that is some good news, thanks Dr Khiron!

Right, so we're clear of injuries but what about team selections? Thanks to Zerohanger and searching up each of the players names....

IN: Pendlebury, Sidebottom, The Bont, McGovern, Hurn, Ziebell, Byrne-Jones, The Luggage, McDonald, Flynn (Interchange), Daniher, Buddy and Close

OUT: Dangerfield

Fantastic! We take Danger out and give Dunstan another chance and now our team looks like thus:

The new guy is Matt Flynn from Greater Western Sydney. While he missed a couple of rounds earlier, he's had some great clashes and a few 100+ performances so we welcome him into the RUC and have him represented by:

This Chimira.

Welcome aboard Matt!

Okay, we've got a full working team now, now it's up to the round itself. Will there be a victory at the end of this for the Flavs? Stay tuned!

ROUND 7 UPDATE - THE AFTERMATH

Okay so you know that old football cliche football is a game of two halves?

Well it seems The Flavorless Flav's have really taken that one to heart this round as pretty much half the team put in a solid effort...while the other half just turned up to...eh...cheer the better half on?
To recap the good, the bad and in one case the downright ugly, Alpha-Delta is back from the shops, serviced and good to go. AD, it's good to have you back, your report warts and all please..

CRITICAL FAILURE - Daniher, 9 points.

POOR EFFORT - Flynn, Ziebell, Byrne-Jones all less than 60 points each.

GREAT PERFORMANCE FROM THE BENCH - Stanley 107 points

DID NOT PLAY - Martin, Dangerfield, Young

BEST ON GROUND - Franklin 118 Points

TOP 3: Franklin, The Bont, Pendlebury

BOTTOM 3: Daniher, Ziebell, Flynn

Suggestions: Swap Stanley for Flynn (RUC), include Martin in team provided he is selected.

Report ends.

Yes sadly Daniher copped a shoulder injury in the first half of the clash between Brisbane and Sydney and we have no idea when he's coming back. The good news is that he does open a spot for Martin who has to come back, he just has to!

Please?

Either way, it doesn't change what happened this round which was: LOSS

Even with Stanley in for Flynn, I'd still fall short of what I needed to topple Matt's Crows. Not only that but I had the lowest score in this league for the round, just one less point than Guy who played with one less player!

Gah. One win this season. Is this as good as it gets?

I sincerely hope not..

The true meaning of Flo Rida's song 'Whistle'..

The whistle song? What's it about? Read on! Controversial I know but I'm about to reveal the true meaning behind the Whistle song by Flo Rida. Why? Because I'm getting the general feeling that people around me are really missing the true spirit of Mr Rida's epic masterpiece... We're getting right into the real Flo, yo. After all this time, it's still all about that wisal baby song!

Mortal Engines for the Emperor!

Now maybe it's just me and maybe I've read far too much into the Warhammer 40K lore and universe...but I'm seeing a lot of parallels between it and the now available on Netflix movie Mortal Engines..

Please don't ignore this massage

It's been a while between scam emails - life has been life, work has been hectic, I've been grunting and sweating my way through my exercise sessions and so I've been putting responding to random idiots through my email on the back burner.  Until today when I was kindly asked not to 'ignore this massage.' I hope it's a hot stone one! Trust me, I NEVER ignore a massage. Better set the record straight then...
