The car's working, my sleep is not. But I pushed on and found that the border is full of traditionalists, there might be a new social media on the horizon and I'm quite enjoying the freedom my career change comes with.
CHEESE AND JALAPENOS ANYONE?
We're creeping up to Easter which means a) I'm going to eat way too much chocolate (again) and b) hot cross buns will seemingly rain from the ceiling in this house (again). Doubly so now that wifey supreme is working at a bakery.
The argument that hot cross buns should only be served at Easter? Irrelevant. Hot cross buns should only be served when you remember to buy them, served hot drowned in butter (not marg) and supplied with a steaming hot cup of your favourite coffee. And as much as I'm open to new interpretations of the classic recipe (mocha cross buns anyone? Delicious!) it seems the Border is not. We put it out across Facebook, on the phones and through our brand new text line Are traditional hot cross buns still the best? Yes or no?
100% yes. All streams. Traditional or not happening.
Not a single vote against or a fan of the show keen to try a cheese and jalapenos version I found online (come to think of it, I'm not big on jalapenos either so I'm with them..)
God I want a hot cross bun now..
(Specially shout out to Deputy Mayor of Albury Steve Bowen for the update on what's happening on the Albury side of the Border for Easter, if I had half the energy he does every time we chat I'd be setting daily records jogging around the Nurburgring.)
MUSK MEDIA
Elon Musk has bought himself a nice stake in Twitter (and as a consequence, owns more of Twitter now than the guy who built the platform) and is contemplating starting his own social media. We wondered this morning what you might need to call it because let's be honest Muskbook and Instamusk really isn't doing it for me.
Hilarious really. |
Maybe Lu's idea of Musk Stick would be a much better choice?
BATTLES AND EAGLES
Tomorrow it's Fight For Your Flashback time again and as the temperature drops, the cooler songs come out. This time I'm going to pit the power of the Bangles - Hazy Shade of Winter..
Given I'm lagging with a current score of 2-1 in her favour, I need the victory here.
Speaking of the Mondo's (and Daddy Cool) tomorrow Ross Wilson will join us for a chat! He'll be in Rutherglen coming up Sunday for a big show getting into all his hits, with special guests the Badloves! Remember this awesome jam?
TIME FOR SELF
Once upon a time (back when I did breakfast radio initially) I'd finish up around 2pm, come home and jump on the computer for research and gaming (more gaming that research honestly) and that was about it. This time around however I get home by lunch. I write, I blog (case in point this post), do some weights if I feel up to it, paint, play with the 3d printer, make a nice lunch, swing by and pick up the kids from school, read, make noise in the shed, work on the car, watch some Netflix on occasion and work on dinner.
Yes I may be stuffed by 8pm but I'm really loving the lifestyle, the time to myself and the freedom having working transport has returned my way. And the family are certainly appreciating the efforts I've gone to to make dinners just that touch more interesting - like tonight's chicken skewers and homemade bao.
It's my first time making this yummy stuff so here's hoping it goes down a treat!
Bring on Wednesday!
