The bao ended up a little salty and needed a touch more sugar. My song pick only scored a meagre 30% of the votes in the flashback fight. But the cheesecake was well received and Ross Wilson was a good chat so that balanced things out nicely.
THE WINTER ISN'T SO HAZY TODAY
A bit of rain, a chance of a thunderstorm later but the Bangles didn't get a run with Hazy Shade of Winter, losing out to Mondo Rock's Cool World. Turns out there's a lot more fans of Ross's across the Border tuning in before 7am.
(Promoting our chat with him later that morning possibly helped the Mondo world too..)
Current scores Lu 2, Al 1.
Sorry Bangles.
Still if you want to crank up their fantastic 1987 hit, allow me to provide you a very handy linkee.
RETURN OF THE MARK
Hypnotist and author Mark Stephens swing by the studio with some quick tips on dealing with Anxiety, which has increased a lot in the last two years thanks to a certain pandemic and our efforts to stay inside and keep our distance. He had some great suggestions on spending a few minutes breathing easy and visualising things (in this case the issue you're currently getting anxious about) shrinking. His latest book Mind Free covers this in far greater than a 3 minute chat on radio ever could and if you're in Australia then you can find a copy easily in your nearest Big W.
I'M NOT THE SPORTING TYPE...
Yeah shocking I know. Short of attempting to figure out what I'm doing when it comes to Supercoach around the office, lifting the occasional heavy bit of iron out in the back yard is about as close am I'm ever going to get to a sporting aspiration.
Still, I can talk a good game. And so we caught up with the coach of the Lady Bandits in the NBL1 and got into a story about the Wangaratta Hawks getting a cameo soon from a retired AFL legend (they'll find out which one on draft night later this month). Tomorrow the sports chat continues as we jump onto the Tiger Woods action and his work coming back to golf after a car accident, asking the question Which sporting great would you like to see un-retire?
Did the Stig ever retire in the first place? If so, I vote for the Stig.
Okay then, let's go Nobuhiro Monster Tajima, the legendary driver of the just as legendary Pikes Peak Suzuki Escudo.
Of course if most of the Border have never played Gran Turismo on the Playstation where this car reigned supreme then my Monster suggestion is going to fall a little flat. Luckily I've got til tomorrow to think of someone a touch more known.
NOW LISTEN
Finally a shout out to Ross The Boss Wilson from Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock for the chat about his Rutherglen coming up this Sunday at Bullet Wines. After a couple of slow years for gigs thanks to Covid, he's loving his time on stage again and by reports I've seen through social media (thanks Rob M) the crowds are loving his time back there just as much.
According to the chat Ross will be playing plenty from both his bands, some solo stuff, possibly teaming up with special guests the Badloves for 'The Weight' (love that song!) and yes Eagle Rock will be played nice and loud - it's the jam they always end the show with and you know it's going to go off!
Rightio then, time for lunch!
Chat soon
