The Breakfast Radio Diaries 026: Featuring Wuey the bat

Legendary comedian Dave O'Neil joined us for a chat about his upcoming gig in town, we found out when wombats attack and I managed to annoy a hard working barista at McDonalds.

IT'S MAC TIME NOW

Usually I'm a bowl of oats and black coffee kind of breakfast announcer. But today after another rubbish sleep, I was more than happy to have someone else cook and brew on my behalf and so I swung through the McDonald's drive through on the way to work. The guy took my order and instructed me to 'drive through to the first window.'

Now I haven't done the 'still dark at drive through' pick up for a while and when he said first window, I thought he meant the first closest to the street and not the one directly around the corner. You can't pay there so you could only imagine his amusement when he got to the cash machine only to find I wasn't waiting there, in car with my card out.

'Could you just back up to the window behind you, that would be great...'

I'm betting I wasn't the first nor the last to do this to the team there..

WHEN ANIMALS ATTACK

Based on Lu's one on one flailing battle with a bunch of wasps, we put it out there: What animal has attacked you?

My list of animal attacks is fairly tame - a few dog bites, a few cat scratches and thrown off a horse but Greg got kicked in the face by a sheep, Hayden got taken out by a hen (and has the scar to prove it) and Shannon found out how wombats hit zero to pissed off in record time when you're camping nearby. (And how much they love any and all food and free booze if available).

WUEY AND DAVE

Dave O'Neil joined us for a chat about his love of Midnight Oil (he was spotted at A Day on the Green recently) and home schooling during Covid times, where Wuey the bat from Wuhan helped entertain his kids, while trying to avoid the angst from all the teddy bears in the house.

Part of Spud's comedy night this Friday and Saturday at The Birddog, we're not sure if Wuey is going to be joining him up on stage but we're looking forward to the laughs.

FINALLY - IT'S A BOARD GAME BLITZ!

I've never been to Mayfair or Park Lane or any Monopoly property in real life so far but now I can say I have now thanks to this edition:

All of the streets are from the region like Dean Street and Mate Street. All the playing pieces are based on local things, like a pie from Beachworth Bakery or the running shoe from the Nailcan Hill Run this Sunday. Even the chance and community chest cards are based on local events - seriously, what a ripper prize to win!
(Especially when you can't buy this version in the shops, you've got to win it!)

So far demand for a copy has been nuts and given it's a rubbish weekend weather wise coming up, I theorized that a local of games of Border Monopoly are going to be played indoors.

More going off tomorrow!

Chat to you then!

Because I'm getting the general feeling that people around me are really missing the true spirit of Mr Rida's epic masterpiece... We're getting right into the real Flo, yo. After all this time, it's still all about that wisal baby song!

Mortal Engines for the Emperor!

Now maybe it's just me and maybe I've read far too much into the Warhammer 40K lore and universe...but I'm seeing a lot of parallels between it and the now available on Netflix movie Mortal Engines..

Please don't ignore this massage

It's been a while between scam emails - life has been life, work has been hectic, I've been grunting and sweating my way through my exercise sessions and so I've been putting responding to random idiots through my email on the back burner.  Until today when I was kindly asked not to 'ignore this massage.' I hope it's a hot stone one! Trust me, I NEVER ignore a massage. Better set the record straight then...
