Bash for The Border - Round 12 - Fixing the car with only half the parts

Buddy's had a brain fart and we're not sure if he'll be able to play.

Also we're about to get into the Bye rounds which really messed up the league last year. Wowwee am I bracing for some pain this round..

Oh did I mention that we're up against Stringer Box who's managed five more wins than I have all season? Yeah, nothing bodes well this week.

A WHAT ROUND EXACTLY?

A bye round. Some teams play the round, others take a break. Then it rotates over a couple of weeks so that all teams play and get a rest before getting back to normal. Last year I scrambled to fill player spots with whoever I could grab, this year I'm not doing that, instead hoping my variation in players from different teams will be enough to scrape through.

I mean I'm hoping for a lot here.

SO WHO IS A NO SHOW THIS WEEK?

Okay so the teams snoozing this week and their respective players playing as part of the Flavorless Flavs are:

CARLTON - Curnow

PORT ADELAIDE - Bryne-Jones, Drew

ST KILDA - No players

ESSENDON - McGrath

GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY - Flynn

RICHMOND - Martin

So six isn't too bad. I can't fill all the gaps but if I shift a few players around:

Amazingly I'm only one short. Of course at the time of writing it's Wednesday and I'm still unclear on the conditions of the following:

The Luggage - Might still be out for injury

Dangerfield - Calf injury. I read somewhere the club might not play him before the Bye which won't help me at all if that's the case.

Swit - Hopefully turns up because he's missed two out of the last three games so far..

Franklin - Might still be suspended, waiting for answers

Hurn - Condition unknown

No Buddy. If you're back this week I expect you to kick more than just one bag of goals.

Sigh, there's a lot up in the air isn't there?

THURSDAY (ONE SLEEP TIL GAME TIME)

Nope, Buddy isn't available. Out for a week for striking. Of course, why would I be expecting good news here for my team?

GAME WEEKEND

So how'd we go?

Well I'd like to say I'm surprised here, but Swit did not play. Yes I probably should have checked the teams list this week (clean forgot) but that's one appearance in the last four games and that's not great at all so he'll be up on the trading block shortly.

Hurn was the king of the team this round with a very handy 111. Not to be outdone, The Bont was right on his tail with 109. Newcombe was equal parts impressive with 99 when the smoke cleared.

The Luggage came back post injury with 92 which isn't shabby at all!

And amazingly even with a couple of players short..

WE WON!!!!

That's two wins for the entire season after 10 rounds, but hey I'll take it! I'm still 7th on the ladder but let's survive the rest of these bye rounds and maybe we can start to crawl back from here..

The true meaning of Flo Rida's song 'Whistle'..

The whistle song? What's it about? Read on! Controversial I know but I'm about to reveal the true meaning behind the Whistle song by Flo Rida. Why? Because I'm getting the general feeling that people around me are really missing the true spirit of Mr Rida's epic masterpiece... We're getting right into the real Flo, yo. After all this time, it's still all about that wisal baby song!

Mortal Engines for the Emperor!

Now maybe it's just me and maybe I've read far too much into the Warhammer 40K lore and universe...but I'm seeing a lot of parallels between it and the now available on Netflix movie Mortal Engines..

Please don't ignore this massage

It's been a while between scam emails - life has been life, work has been hectic, I've been grunting and sweating my way through my exercise sessions and so I've been putting responding to random idiots through my email on the back burner.  Until today when I was kindly asked not to 'ignore this massage.' I hope it's a hot stone one! Trust me, I NEVER ignore a massage. Better set the record straight then...
