Wow, 50 episodes of this already? Somehow with all this ground covered I can still recall the nerves of day one and getting more tongue tied than that minor hit by Danny John-Jules. I mean it was only back in March this year but still.
Today amazing music hit amazing 80's movies as we looked for the best 80's soundtrack song around and got reminded in the process of some incredible songs we still rock to this day.
Oh and there was a bit of footy chat but let's face it, today was more about the music.
GET THE FLOCK BACK TO THE 80S
Not only did we reminisce, but we also learnt a thing or two along the way. Myself especially when I learnt that Holiday Road which was the theme song for the National Lampoon movies with Chevvy Chase was performed by none other than Lindsay Buckingham, formerly of Fleetwood Mac!
Up until yesterday, I had no idea who was behind it. But now I know and can share this strange film clip for your enjoyment:
Also you'd think that this 1983 remake of Puttin on the Ritz by Taco (yep, real name) would have had its own 80's movie defining moment...but no. Maybe it didn't fit with anything of that era even if it is vintage 80s?
But I digress, we're here to talk songs that helped made movies and over the course of the morning, the list grew:
-Shakedown by Bob Segar and the Silver Bullet Band (Beverly Hills Cop)
-I love Rock and Roll by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (the gym scene in Flashdance)
-Timewarp (Rocky Horror Picture Show)
-St Elmo's Fire (John Parr)
-Shake a tailfeather by Ray Charles (Blues Brothers)
Through the text line Steve reminded me of the excellence of Big Pig's effort in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. How did I sleep on this? I loved this movie growing up!
Also can you go past this hilarious scene in Beetlejuice? The acting was off the scale! (Also another great suggestion by Steve!)
But even with a few things on across the Border once more, I plan on having the quietest weekend around. The kids are sick still, Donna's not well and I've already installed the thermostat in the car already which I was planning to do tomorrow anyway so that's one less reason to leave the house into the bitter cold.
The Boys Season 3 starts this weekend as does the latest edition of The Orville. So I've got plenty of reasons to park my bum on the couch and not move it until bedtime Sunday..
Hope you have a great weekend!
