The Breakfast Radio Diaries 051: Slowly slowly going nowhere

I'm not ashamed to admit it, I spent a good chunk of my weekend on my rear end watching all sorts of good stuff. Because sometimes you need those quiet inexpensive weekends to catch your breath with. It also doubled as a bloody good reason not to go outside because once again Albury ran out of warm degrees and went silly with the cold ones.

The only downside with this type of weekend watching is that a lot of the audience was doing exactly the same thing and that makes it difficult to answer the question 'What was the highlight of your weekend?' when you barely peeled yourself off the couch.

Still, the party pies we had with our TV highlights were pretty tasty!

IT WASN'T ALL LAZY HIGHLIGHTS THOUGH

My car battery died on Saturday while I was parked in one of the only two Woolworths pick up spots in a very busy car park. And it died because I had the radio on but not the ignition, keeping the car entertained while we waited for our pickup. I figured starting it after 10 minutes would be just fine but this is my picky Subaru who only enjoys pricey OEM things rather than generic and then refused to start.

So apologies if you needed that spot to pick up your own groceries, it seems roadside assistance was a touch busy on that miserable Saturday arvo.

WHAT I ENDED UP WATCHING

James May, Our Man in Japan - There's something really endearing about James May (above) when he's not racing around in Supercars with good mates Richard and Jeremy, His toy series was excellent (and made me want to buy another slot car set) and this trip to Japan with everything from slow trains to abandoned cities, sword making to J-Pop is just as good.
Now I want to visit Japan. Sigh, one day.

Injustice - Animation where The Joker blows a lot of people up and normally good natured Superman goes a little insane, killing quite a few people in the process much to the chagrin of Batman. Is something going on between Green Arrow and Harly Quinn? You be the judge!

The Boys Season 3 - I managed to make it just 10 minutes into the first episode of the latest season, right up to the sex scene in the toilet cubicle when my daughter walked in and I switched to something far friendly.

The Borat Subsequent Moviefilm - Again, got a bit into it and the kids decided they didn't want to play Roblox anymore and instead came to see what mum and dad were watching instead. Well there went that idea.

Coming 2 America - As a fan of the first one, I loved the clap-backs in this to the original. Was it as good as the first? No but I still found it enjoyable, not just for the various memories like Randy Watson but Wesley Snipes seemingly enjoying himself silly as the lunatic General Izzi.

The Curse of Oak Island - Seriously, how can you stretch a season out this far? They dig a hole, they don't find anything. They dig another hole, they don't find anything. The suspect something is happening on the other side of the island, the lack of permits means they can't do anything, oh well, dig another hole.
By the end of this season they'd found over 1000 artefacts and I reckon 90% of them was wood, 8% were ox shoes and the remaining 2% were things Blacksmith Carmen Legg could identify with his eyes closed.

Can't wait to see them dig another hole next season while the voice over bloke questions everything ad nauseam.

SMASH THAT AVOCADO!

So apparently Avocado Australia is on the hunt to crown the greatest cafe served 'smashed avo' across the country. Which makes me smirk because I immediately think of that idiotic notion by some millionaire that people could afford houses a lot more if they gave up the smashed avocado.

Funnily enough I can't remember the last smashed Avo I ordered anywhere and I'm still not writing this from my palatial palace, but anywhoos.

I would like to happily volunteer to be one of the judges if Avo Aus runs short, happy to play my part and all that - I am a big fan of the stuff.

Maybe we could search out the countries best guacamole too while we're at it?

There's a delicious thought..

Mortal Engines for the Emperor!

Now maybe it's just me and maybe I've read far too much into the Warhammer 40K lore and universe...but I'm seeing a lot of parallels between it and the now available on Netflix movie Mortal Engines..

Please don't ignore this massage

It's been a while between scam emails - life has been life, work has been hectic, I've been grunting and sweating my way through my exercise sessions and so I've been putting responding to random idiots through my email on the back burner.  Until today when I was kindly asked not to 'ignore this massage.' I hope it's a hot stone one! Trust me, I NEVER ignore a massage. Better set the record straight then...
