Dear former Australian Prime Minster Scott Morrison,
On behalf of all breakfast announcers like myself across the country, thanks so much for adding yourself to various portfolios while you were Prime Minister. While it's doubtful I'll understand the full ramifications of this move (I'm not great with politics, let's be honest) it did give us all plenty to talk about this morning with the ongoing investigation so thank you.
Regards

IS THIS NEWS?
Cards on the table, back in my first breakfast radio run News.com.au was my go to source for all things newsworthy, for testing the pulse of the nation if you will. However it seems that a lot has changed in that five-six years since then because now I play the daily game of 'Why is this an article and who reads this?'
Case in point, these 'news' stories.
Yes I get the need to cram in as much information as possible into a website to keep people reading for longer and keep the advertisers happy (that's how I make my billions here obviously) but I hardly think those three stories I've just picked from their front page are really newsworthy.
I expect to see that first one in That's Life or maybe Take Five, one of those
supermarket checkout magazines you flick through while the old lady in front
of you tries to pay her one hundred dollar shopping tally with five cent
pieces.
The last one? Probably wouldn't look out of place in a
Men's Health editorial or opinion article but it certainly isn't news.
As for the TikTok star - really? Someone's outfit while on holiday gets an article now? We're looking for people to talk about from Tik Tok? Thanks New Idea! Oh wait, you're not New Idea are you?
I'm not saying they don't do news, there's plenty of that there - it's articles like this that have made me view it less of a reliable news information service and more an gossip magazine with content scraped from Reddit, binge TV and TikTok with an occasional update on something happening around the world.
HAPPY INXS DAY
So 45 years ago today, the Farris Brothers band (who went on to become the mighty INXS) played their very first gig...on what was Tim Farris's 20 birthday! So in celebration, I got to play one of their greatest tracks of all time today on the show - Don't Change:
It is from early on in the piece (1982's Shabooh Shabah album) but it's still one my favourites of all time, both musically and lyrically. Just as good as the tribute version that came out in 2011 thanks to band members and boyhood mates Tim and Kirk - while it doesn't have the same level of soul as only Michael could inject into something like this, it's more emotional especially when you know how much the boys in the band loved doing what they did.
Apparently off the back of today there's some album reissues and other goodies still to come in the INXS pipeline - good stuff!
AROUND THE TRAPS
-A man bit his son and got charged for it after his son bit his sister (yeah, very strange this story)
-A local girl is going to her debutante in a dress that her grandmother and her mother wore (good on her but not really a knock out news story that one)
-And some idiot from Melbourne drank too much whiskey, crawled into his car and just about revved it to death prompting the people in that street to call the police, probably so they could get some sleep finally.
TOMORROW
The super fun Phil Jamieson will drop by for a chat about his new solo album and hitting Albury this weekend for a big gig at the SS and A:
And since 'You need to talk about Essendon!' (the football club, not the suburb) was a directive from the boss in our planning meeting this morning, I'm going to do that too. Helping me out with his thoughts will be none other than Dale 'Daisy' Thomas!
Right, time for lunch!
Chat tomorrow
