I'm at 14% with editing, 12% peckish right now and have about 22% battery life. Not on my phone, I'm talking my own energy levels. It's been a busy week and I'm a touch tired now but so happy it's Friday...
TAKE YOU BACK
So way back (okay, earlier this year so not exactly way back)
I wrote about Rob, the guy who bid $5000 for a copy of Border Monopoly to help Carevan raise
money for a new set of wheels. Well fast forward to now where after speaking
to Leanne from Carevan, Rob decided to go one better than just his 5k donation
- he bought them a brand new van.
No not a low km model off Facey,
a brand new good to go van, ready to continue to deliver food, clothes and
hampers to those in need.
And today straight after the show I was invited to see it first hand at a photo shoot outside of Rob's business:
Writing here exactly how thankful the Carevan team were at this wonderful gift would be near impossible, suffice to say there were smiles all round. And it's really nice to roll up to a busy photo shoot to see all the local media formats there to cover the story, continuing to spread the word about what Carevan does and how generous the local community (onya Rob) can be.
It's a great looking van up close too! (Also a shout out for the morning tea! They must have known that if you want to at an event, all you have to do is have some food on hand.. :D)
WELCOME BACK...LOW PRICED LETTUCE!
A shout out to the mother in law Di for the text last night - Arnold's Fruit and Veg today selling Iceburg Lettuce for $1.49. I got to work this morning and there was an ad playing saying that at Aldi too, the price had dropped. They were selling them at 2.99 each.
Now if you're not from down under and wondering why the price of lettuce would
even factor into my daily work updates, it's because recently they've been
expensive. Last week I bought one for $6 just so we could have some shredded
lettuce for taco night. That's the most I've ever spent on one in my 42 years
on the planet.
A few weeks before that they were laughingly $10-12 in
parts of Australia due to very low stocks.
But obviously those stocks have been replenished and Mexican night has suddenly become more affordable. Now if we can just get this whole Russia situation sorted and have petrol prices drop again, we'll be right! (Oh and maybe another supplier of seaweed for the Gaviscon scenario from earlier this week..)
WEEKEND PLANS
I've said it before, I should be editing. I'm already itching to work on the next book of the series but first things first, finish the first book off completely before starting the creative process for the next one. But after the week that was including a few self butt kicking workouts, maybe some sleep first. Oh and the self made markets are on again in Wodonga this Sunday, so I might check that out. And then we do have a rental inspection coming up so maybe cleaning should be on the cards...
Enjoy your weekend whatever your plans though
