The Breakfast Radio Diaries 091 - Cars made of pasta while the world burns

Lu's sick, I'm dreaming of the end of the world and a spelling mistake has pushed my latest writing effort back a couple of days..

TRANSITION PROBLEMS

Forget Mondayitis, it's the transition from Sunday to Monday that likes to kick me right in the sleep reflex. And after spending so much time gardening and cleaning over the weekend (rent inspection coming soon) I would have figured I would have slept easily, but no. I tossed and turned again, got up a few times, heard the cat make her escape to the outside world circa 3am but managed to only check the clock once (which was when the cat did her thing). There were strange dreams about drinking in a pub as the world ended but definitely not enough sleep - typical of a Sunday night when you have to get up early on a Monday I feel.

MORE JUICE IN THE TANK

The more you learn hey? I was just thinking out loud 'Hey, has this new car battery that I took for a walk across town last week somehow improved my fuel economy?' Because normally around town my Slowbaru loves to slurp away at things like it's got one hell of a thirst (freeway driving it does much better in not smashing it's head in the drinking trough at a work party) but a quick Googling has confirmed, yes it may be playing a part.

When a battery is low, the alternator has to work harder to do what it does. And the harder it works, the more juice it uses in the process. Now that it has oodles of fresh power, it can take its foot off things. Me not so much, especially when I'm in a hurry..

I BEFORE E, EXCEPT AFTER C. OR IF YOU'RE MAKING A BOOK COVER

Gah, isn't it always the way? Over the weekend I finished editing up my latest book Last Thief Standing. I refreshed the cover, submitted all the details to Draft2Digital and drew up a checklist of promotional activity. Part of it included a big post here about it being ready to go and where you could check it out.

Only this morning in between songs when I looked at one of the bookstore listings, I saw a pretty obvious mistake. Thief is not spelt T-H-E-I-F. While the incorrect spelling isn't the main title (thankfully) it's pretty damn obvious.
So that announcement post might still be a day or two away while I wait for everything to refresh itself to the right and correct version...

Which is this one.

AWWW DAD!

With Father's day looming this weekend, this week we're giving away Red Hot Summer Tickets for your best (or worst) dad joke. Today's winning effort went to Pip:

I told my mum I was building a car out of spaghetti. She was so amazed when I drove pasta.

More to come folks, we're just getting warmed up!

Lu back tomorrow? Fingers crossed!

The true meaning of Flo Rida's song 'Whistle'..

The whistle song? What's it about? Read on! Controversial I know but I'm about to reveal the true meaning behind the Whistle song by Flo Rida. Why? Because I'm getting the general feeling that people around me are really missing the true spirit of Mr Rida's epic masterpiece... We're getting right into the real Flo, yo. After all this time, it's still all about that wisal baby song!

Mortal Engines for the Emperor!

Now maybe it's just me and maybe I've read far too much into the Warhammer 40K lore and universe...but I'm seeing a lot of parallels between it and the now available on Netflix movie Mortal Engines..

Please don't ignore this massage

It's been a while between scam emails - life has been life, work has been hectic, I've been grunting and sweating my way through my exercise sessions and so I've been putting responding to random idiots through my email on the back burner.  Until today when I was kindly asked not to 'ignore this massage.' I hope it's a hot stone one! Trust me, I NEVER ignore a massage. Better set the record straight then...
