Now that I've clicked past the 100 shows milestone, it's business as usual. And that business this week is working on tax, getting my sense of smell back (again) and eating and drinking my way around Albury Wodonga each weekend..
ANOTHER TICKED OFF THE LIST
After hearing how good they were (thanks Brandy!), a couple of months back I finally got to try a burger at Frankies here in Albury and it truly was the bomb. Chicken Katsu burger in the sunshine after a long working week, perfect and highly recommended.
And over the weekend, we got to try another Border institution (again recommended by my mate Brandy - he really does love his good grub!) in Gum Tree pies. As cold as the wind was on the Sunday, the pies were hot and I thoroughly suggest you try either the lamb and mint jelly option or the beef and red wine.
Legend has it they once made a lasagne pie which sounds like heaven on a stick but sadly, it's not on the menu here now. Still, the pies were good and the coffees from the Beanstation Cafe across the road capped off a pretty nice arvo out with the family.
Still on the list of things to try: Din Dins restaurant, the craft beer bar at Junction place, any and every coffee shop we haven't visited just yet.
CALL IN THE EXPERTS
I used to do my own tax until I finally found someone who well and truly
understands the media industry and knows exactly what I can claim. They're
pricier than average but the returns are better than I can do (by a factor of
a lot), so it's worth it. So it's a sit down chat with the experts this
arvo as car registrations and the like come due soon..
(And at least this
year I did remember to send in all the necessary paperwork - nothing like
being asked during your tax return call 'Tell me about this' and then it's a
mad scramble to find it because you clean forgot. I'm far more organised this
year!)
Thankfully I never did my own health concerns because god only knows what would happen if I tried removing my nasal polyps myself with my small shed full of tools (nope, not even worth thinking about really) but luckily I'll also be chatting to ENT specialists this afternoon too about possible options including surgery (and getting my sense of smell back, it's really been too long).
When in doubt, consult the experts. Even if you have to chat to two experts from wildly different fields on the same afternoon..
FINALS TIME - THE COUNTDOWN IS ON!
Two more weeks for the Ovens and Murray Football Netball League season.
Two
more weeks of the AFL season.
Two more weeks of the kids laser tag
competition on Wednesday arvo.
104 days before Christmas (oh god..)
A
lot more weeks before the next season of Netflix's addictive Drive to Survive
comes out (March next year)
683 days before the French Olympics.
Although the way this year has gone (and the breakfast days kind of blurring into each other) they'll all come around a lot quicker than first thought..
A scary thought really..
