The Breakfast Radio Diaries 145 - Full learning experience

In a competition to give away $5000 we were calling out a street that didn't actually exist anywhere on the Border. Luckily the people who lived where we were supposed to be talking about figured it out pretty quickly and got us back on the right path.

Also we found a cafe where only one sized coffee is king (because that's the only sized brew they do!)

NO ONE LIVES IN DISOMA COURT

Well they might actually if there's a Disoma court outside of the Border. But in our broadcasting range there certainly isn't, a simple spelling mistake on the computer screen had us scratching our heads and more on how to pronounce the place than where it was (or if it even existed to begin with).

Dee-Soma?

Die-Soma?

Diss-Oh-Mah?

Nope, none of those. Because it's Diosma Court, named after the flower. Which looks like this:

The more you know!

TODAY I LEARNT - BLOKARTING!

The name of a flower wasn't the only thing we learnt today, finding out about the sport Blokarting. And if you're wondering if there's a connection between Go Karting and wind somewhere there then you're pretty close. It's land sailing!

Originally from New Zealand, it's growing in popularity here and apparently big in Beachworth and other locations. While we don't have a nice stretch of beach handy, there's plenty of land about to fang about in one of these wind powered machines of awesomeness and we'd love to give it a try - seriously how much fun does it look?

YOU CAN HAVE ANY COFFEE YOU LIKE - BUT YOU CAN'T PICK THE SIZE

A shout out to the lovely staff at Canvas Lane Eatery in QEII Square Albury - I've been meaning to try their coffees for a while and today was the day.

And while their Oat Cap was delicious, I was surprised by the lack of sizes. There's no small, medium or large here, there's just coffee. (Take away cup size seemed between small and medium.) I'm so used to including a size description when ordering that it feels really strange saying just 'Cappuccino please.'

Still, coffee did the trick so I was happy for it no matter what the size and I'm always happy checking out new places around town.

Nice to see the weather has calmed down for the moment too - although they're predicting more rain for the weekend.. (Hopefully not)

Chat tomorrow!

The true meaning of Flo Rida's song 'Whistle'..

The whistle song? What's it about? Read on! Controversial I know but I'm about to reveal the true meaning behind the Whistle song by Flo Rida. Why? Because I'm getting the general feeling that people around me are really missing the true spirit of Mr Rida's epic masterpiece... We're getting right into the real Flo, yo. After all this time, it's still all about that wisal baby song!

Please don't ignore this massage

It's been a while between scam emails - life has been life, work has been hectic, I've been grunting and sweating my way through my exercise sessions and so I've been putting responding to random idiots through my email on the back burner.  Until today when I was kindly asked not to 'ignore this massage.' I hope it's a hot stone one! Trust me, I NEVER ignore a massage. Better set the record straight then...

The coach with the most! Ep 1 - There's a draft in here

Last week I got invited to play Herald Sun KFC Supercoach with some of the guys at work. Pick your team of AFL (Australian Football League or Aussie Rules for those playing at home) superstars and hope they do enough each week during the game (goals, points and running powers slams?) to rack up the points and make you king of the office space by the end of the season! I haven't played a version of this since they first brought it out in the newspaper (where you had to plug in the details of the players by hand!) and have not having the foggiest who in the AFL is half decent currently (aside from the entire Richmond line up), how could this go possibly wrong? Welcome to draft day baby!
