Much Horsepower - Part 2 'Knights of the horse table'

In this weeks update: We're still waiting for a race, any race really. One horsie has increased in value and it's probably a good time to introduce the other players of this challenge who have as much nag knowledge as I do..

WEDNESDAY UPDATE

MY STABLE SEEMS FIXED IN POSITION

And by that I mean no horse seems to be going anywhere. Hopefully this will be fixed in the next day or so because currently none of my horses seem to be booked to do anything in the next few days. I need  points, therefore I need racing horses. C'mon Wong Wong, get up and do something already!

THE PRICE OF THE MASKED ONE IS UP!

After stealing the show last weekend with a thumping first place, MASKED CRUSADER is now worth $25K more at a cool $475k. Of course since it's my only truly successful gee gee so far, there's no point it selling him/her/horse yet.

The only horses not doing much, well they don't get such protection from my trading ways...(aka lift your game!)

FROM GERMAN TO HOLLAND

Since it costs me nothing to swap jockeys, we say goodbye to German and welcome in Dean Holland who is listed to race something this weekend and not only that, has already got some points on the board so far. Represented by a can of beer made in the same country as his surname, here's to another successful weekend of points gaining because god knows I need them..

AND FINALLY LET'S LOOK AT THE LEADER BOARD!

Because it's not just me fighting for horse related victories in the Horses For Courses Comp!

1. TYSONIC HEDGEHOGS (TYSON) 191 POINTS

The instigator of this competition like myself he's fond of a horse with a strong name. Unfortunately he managed to pick a lot more horses racing in the first weekend than I did. Still there's a few weeks to go, hopefully we can get enough on the field to catch up..

2. WHIPPY LONGSTOCK (TIM) 153 POINTS

Winner of the AFL Supercoach battle from earlier this year, I'm not sure on Tim's selection process but it seems to be doing well for him so far.

3. MUCH HORSEPOWER (HEY THAT'S ME!) 70 POINTS

You know my story, you're currently reading it. When I'm working with horses, I imagine myself as Tommy Shelby from the Peaky Blinders. I mean if you squint, we vaguely look the same. Go you good thing!

4. THE JACK HORSEMEN (GUY) YET TO SCORE

A last minute inclusion to the competition and the reason I'm not currently last, Guy once supplied me with a couple of winning greyhound tips. Obviously that's pretty useless here but I figured I may as well share some kind of random information here. In the interest of fairness, I've also showed him how to lock in the horses he picks each week so we don't have a repeat of round one when he managed to turn up trackside without a single horse on board..

Right, that's who I'm up against - let's see if any of my horses are racing soon tomorrow!

THURSDAY UPDATE

Right, so none of my horses are racing this weekend. Of course they're not, this is me we're talking about! So it's time to wipe the board clean and replace them all with ones that are actually planning to turn up to a racetrack somewhere this weekend. It's a big job and helping me out is a big vat of industrial strength coffee...hopefully it's enough.

OUT: The Wizard King

IN: Prix De Turn

Represented by the Brazil GP track

Bittersweet really, Wizard King brought in some points but on the other side of the coin it was only two of them which really isn't much. NZ Nag Prix De Turn gets his turn and I hope the race caller slips up and pronounces said horse as 'Pricks De Turn' for pure shits and giggles.

OUT: Resonator

IN: Kiki Express

Represented by: My cat.

Funnily enough there aren't too many in the 50K price range that seem to be racing this weekend. Luckily one of them shares the name of my cat, who is pretty fast on her feet when she here's a tin of food being opened up so maybe that's a sign? Hope so!

(Update: Hilariously due to my cat, I've thrown $5 each way on Kiki Express for her first race. With fixed odds I'll make around $160 if she wins this..)

OUT: Wong Wong

IN: Lonsdaleite

Gah, of all the gee gees in the bargain bin ready for some racing action, none of them have names I like. I mean how the hell do I say this one? Lonsdale-lite? Lonsdale-Lee-Tay? Buggered if I know. Still, it's the last gap filled for the cheap seat horses so here's hoping the options get better from here.

OUT: Profiteer

IN: Never been kissed

Represented by this terrible movie

Name is average (I mean who wants to advertise something that?) but the horse has form and even at $50k more than it was last week, it still leaves me with an extra 25K to play with thanks to what I bought Profiteer for! So technically Profiteer has brought me profit even though it never raced!

OUT: Horrifying

IN: Bargain

Represented by Tim from Bargain Hunt

At 200K and no form in this game yet, I'm not exactly sure if Bargain is going to live up to its name but selected to race this weekend, we shall see!

OUT: Baron Samedi

IN: The Chosen One

Finally, a powerful name! I mean it's only taken most of my field being swapped out to land something with true powerful name potential but here we are. Let's just hope said nag is chosen for victory...many victories!

OUT: Behemoth

IN: Tofane

And here we go again, another selection I can't even begin to work out how to pronounce. Are we talking Toe-Fane? Two-Farny? Toff-Annie? Bleh, I don't know nor do I care. Just do something amazing on the field this weekend and your rubbish name will be forgiven.

OUT: Masked Crusader

IN: Probabeel

Represented by 30-30 from the Bravestarr cartoon

I have heard the name before, somewhere. Melbourne Cup maybe? Lexus Stakes perhaps? Jimmy Chan's Backyard BBQ and 200m horse dash? I can't remember. But the price is right, it's set to race and hopefully to win some much needed points too.

So now after all that, I have racing lights across the board with four Group 1's, one Group 2, one group 3 race and the final two listed to race in the Magic Millions debutant stakes. Giddy up!

WEEKEND RESULTS

Well amazingly all horses did something this weekend and strangely my jockey mysteriously disappeared! That's two weeks in a row now that the jockey I've picked has managed to fade into the ether leaving me without any points. Luckily the horses picked up where he left off and the lead story in this very happy round of horse racing had to be for debutant KIKI EXPRESS who not only won her first race but also managed to score my a great haul in a little behind the scenes betting action!

It's not very often (actually it never happens really) that I can turn $10 into $176 by backing something with the same name as a pet but fixed odds seemed very appealing and I came home after working Saturday to this amazing news.

In other news:

TOFANE landed a 2nd place and increased in value by 25K

PROBABEEL stomped home and gave my points a much needed boost!

A 2nd spot for THE CHOSEN ONE means I'm very happy with the performance of my 3 most expensive horses so far and given their results, their price is only going to grow from here.

However that success didn't flow on to BARGAIN who landed in 9th and brought just 2 points into the mix. I suppose that's something but still...

NEVER BEEN KISSED came in a close 2nd, go you good thing! PRIX DE TURN ran out of racing fuel though and only came in at 7th while LONSDALITE looked at KIKI EXPRESS running rampant and gave up, coming in at 8th for just 2 points.

And after closer inspection, it turns out my Jockey was racing but with only a 9th place across the weekend, didn't score any points. No wonder I thought they'd wandered off..

And while I'm still in 3rd after 2 rounds, I'm only 11 points away from 2nd place which makes me very very happy. Trying to catch up to Tysonic Hedgehogs may be a bit of a task but if I can find a few more nags named after pets I've owned we might just do okay...

Up next; Another fresh crop of random horses and I'm still not exactly sure what I'm doing here (but hanging onto the reins for dear life..)

The true meaning of Flo Rida's song 'Whistle'..

The whistle song? What's it about? Read on! Controversial I know but I'm about to reveal the true meaning behind the Whistle song by Flo Rida. Why? After all this time, it's still all about that wisal baby song!

Mortal Engines for the Emperor!

Now maybe it's just me and maybe I've read far too much into the Warhammer 40K lore and universe...but I'm seeing a lot of parallels between it and the now available on Netflix movie Mortal Engines..

Please don't ignore this massage

It's been a while between scam emails - life has been life, work has been hectic, I've been grunting and sweating my way through my exercise sessions and so I've been putting responding to random idiots through my email on the back burner.  Until today when I was kindly asked not to 'ignore this massage.' I hope it's a hot stone one! Trust me, I NEVER ignore a massage. Better set the record straight then...
