I craved chocolate, played Monopoly on a bridge and wondered why my car was overheating after just four days of ownership. Welcome to Friday!
IN THE BATTLE OF THE 80'S CHOCOLATE BAR, TWO STOOD PROUD
I love my Mars bars. Loved them in the 80s and just as much today. In fact I'll go one step further here and admit that I love a chilled, crisped, verging on frozen Mars bar which I find is the best way to enjoy them.
However when we put the question out across the Border - which was the best 80's chocolate bar around? My humble Mars bar didn't get much of a look in. No apparently there were just two top shelf bar go to's back then and they were:
Yep, equal favs Chokito's and Polly Waffles - fans of the show raved about them. Look I won't say no to either if offered but if there's a Mars option, I'm out.
Shout out to Flake though, also Twix and the humble Kit Kat...now I'm hungry again!
LIGHTS, CAMERA, DON'T FLUFF YOUR WORDS
A couple of days ago, it was me dressed as a turkey. This time around when the cameras came out Lu and I were looking far more respectable because we were doing a proper, respectable commercial. Of course we stuffed up our lines many times. Of course we mucked around like idiots. But we got there it right at the end and that's a bonus!
From there we ended up on a bridge between Albury and Wodonga, playing a game of Monopoly while Brad filmed away from all angles. I got to play as a Pie piece, the wind tried to rob of us everything and when we were all said and done, I thought on how random today was. And of course it was set to get even stranger then that soon enough!
NOT A GOOD TIME BAX!
I fuelled up my car (Bax the Destroyer), put some air in the tires and hit the nearest freeway before I had to pick up the kids just to test out my latest ride. And things went swimmingly right up until I got off the freeway and noticed the temperature gauge had hit nuclear. Pulling over quickly I discovered a small bath of coolant in the bay and what was still in the reserve tank bubbling away furiously.

I really don't have time for this! |
I couldn't see an obvious leak but I also couldn't limp it home or wait for a possible tow because I had to attend my daughters parent teacher interview. So I let it cool, drove slowly to the school and did the interview - all good there, she's a a wonderful student apparently. Then I drove her to a party, slowly and both the car and my daughter behaved admirably, the temp gauge didn't get angry at me and stayed where it should. Okay then.
While she enjoyed the party, my son and I went off to find some Subaru coolant and a knock sensor because according to the on board systems, that's on the way out too.
Great - can I hand this thing back already and get a full refund? (No I can't, it's registered in my name now. Oh well)
A couple more careful trips and wouldn't you know it? Nothing happening. This morning the coolant puddle had dried and there's no evidence of anything leaking anywhere and adding to it. I am going to give it a bit of a flush out tomorrow just to be safe (where else am I going to put this expensive Subaru coolant?) and check for split pipes but so far so good, must have been a Friday thing.
(Or a random blocking bubble in the pipe somewhere. Apparently that can happen with this model. Well okay then.)
As for the puddle - best guess would be the boiling stuff pushing itself out of the hose hole in the reserve tank. We shall see!
After all that, here's to a quiet Monday!
Chat then!
