Now blogging over at Onemanmanyplans.com.au

It's been real, thanks Blogger! Hey thanks for checking out this page! After 10 years of posting here and over 600 posts, it's time to try something new at over possibly greener pastures. Which means you can now find me and all my random adventuring ways over at One Man Many Plans .

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 156+157 - Bound to happen..

...and it was really. I knew there'd come a day or two when I was so busy, I'd have to chuck a couple of days posts into one big hit just to play catch up. So welcome to the first double post where I'm trying to recall the last couple of days in between my son off on school camp and me getting slightly disappointed by trains of all things...

EARLY START TO FIRE ARROWS

4:30AM AEDT and my house is a buzz of activity as we get our son Jackson ready for school camp for the first time ever. Yes that nasty Covid squashed the school camping plans last year so you could imagine the excitement levels as I woke him up shortly after my own normal alarm went off and he bounded down the hallway trying to break the sound barrier.

'Have I got this?'

'Yes.'

'What about?'

'Yes Jack..'

Of course by the time we got to the bus he realised he'd left his choice pillow behind but that was okay, apparently the cabins had pillows, the kids just had to bring their own cases. And since that was the only thing he'd managed to leave behind, he was more than happy to jump on the bus with the rest of the bleary eyed army of kids off to camp and wave us goodbye.

And where's he right now? Living it up in Hawkesbury NSW which is a mere six hours away from here. Why that far? I'm not really sure. Are their closer camp grounds in this state? Undoubtedly. But my wife sent me an action shot of him having fun there during archery practise (I wish I got to do that at school camp) and he seems to be loving it so that's great to hear.

Looking good there Jack!

DISAPPOINTING TRAIN SITUATION

A couple of things to note here:

-I don't follow politics

-I don't take trains very often.

But both these random things collided recently when my ears perked up over the possibility of train tickets becoming cheaper. And it turns out they will, but not for me.

No I probably should have read the fine print a little better. And by that I mean I probably should have read the fine print to begin with because the cheaper tickets will be happening on routes I don't use at times I don't take trains.

Don't I feel clever now? Winner! :P

YOU SCREAM, I SCREAM..

On a much more positive note than missing out on discounted train travel, today we were talking about ice cream on the show and who doesn't like ice cream? (Okay there was one guy on Facebook who said 'I don't like ice cream' but we ignored him..) Monumental Ice Creamery here in Albury have just clocked up ten years in business and in that decade of running, has found themselves selling more chocolate ice cream than any other flavour.
Yeah chocolate is streets ahead of any flavour across the Border it seems - which lead to the obvious talk topic/conversation starter today: What's your favourite flavour of ice cream?

Now I will admit, I love chocolate ice cream especially when there's chunks of the chocolatey stuff in there and the occasion stream of chocolate like lava running through it. Which means I used to love Dairy Bell's Nuts about Chocolate which I don't think is available in Australia anymore. Although I could try and make something similar..

Some of the more exotic ice cream flavour love suggestions from our Facebook included:

-Salted Butter Caramel (Gundowring)

-Old English Toffee

-Liquorice (Bosses fav)

-Rum and raisin

-Peppermint choc chip

-Rum and raisin but with a bit of Bundy rum on top of it (wait what?)

-Triple Chocolate Fudge Brownie (Yum!)

-Vanilla ice cream + milo. And since we're talking vanilla and anything, how good was vanilla ice cream covered in cotties ice magic? Now we're talking!

-Baileys (Oh god yes!)

TOMORROW

The best moment on 80's TV - was it really Scott and Charlene's wedding on Neighbours?

Surely not?

Time will tell!
