To get there I have to beat the strong team in second place.
Oh and to make things really interesting, three quarters of my engine is going missing this round.

Yes after the thumping success of last round where a good chunk of Rod's team called in sick, some big things happened in the series ladder.
I went up, the Brando's went down and now I'm just 1 point away from finals cutoff. #exciting!
So it seems my plan of grabbing free agents to patch holes worked better than ever. Which is great because have a look at all the blue dots plaguing my squad currently going into round 14...
I have 10 players taking a spell and 4 replacements. At currently standings it seems I'm going to pull up about 900 points short in my final battle before the grand final gates come crashing down.

Everyone has something to say
Tim has already swung by my office and remarked that he'd hate to be playing under me if I was running an under 10's footy team, given my fondness for getting rid of players on a whim. That was until I pointed out:
-It worked
-It was necessary.
-It worked (this bares repeating) so well in fact, I got the highest score of anyone that round. If that's not enough evidence that I am a mad genius, then I don't know what is.

In the battle of the RUC's, Hickey has a slightly better average than Nankervis so he stays, but hits the bench. Taking Nankervis's spot now is the highest RUC I can find on the free agent smorgasbord, namely:

There's now just a 71 point predicted margin between my team and Tysons and I still have a couple of players left to trade. Things looking okay at this point.
Incredibly, it's time for another player to return after getting the chop! Lincoln McCarthy is back in place of Coleman-Jones, returning to the Forward position to work in conjunction with Zorko and hopefully unleash absolute hell!

TURN THINGS UPSIDE DOWN THURSDAY
Well I didn't see this coming, a wild plot twist appears!
Chatting about Supercoach when we should be working ('I see you've carved out most of your team again'), Tyson reveals
he can't fill the last two spots in his team lineup for this round because it would ruin the current integrity of his team. He's in 2nd on the ladder and he needs his team as strong as possible to take on Tim's in the finals.
Given his high position on said ladder, there's zero chance he won't make the finals so he has no problems taking a hit this round from losing to me.
Suddenly my chances of doing anything have become a little brighter.
I still may lose of course (especially with my new bunch of unknowns) but let those cards fall where they may...
SUNDAY STONE COLD STUNNER
Uh oh. It seems I've missed something in my planning for this weekend. No not something, someone.
And that someone would be Zorko.
It seems I've missed the earth shattering news that he wasn't part of the lineup this weekend due to a one match ban after decapitating a Melbourne player or something last week. One of if not my top scorer out of action and I had no idea.
The app didn't tell me, no one around here mentioned it, I was completely oblivious.
And at the time I found out...well Tyson and I both had one player left to play for the weekend and he was still ahead by a little bit, so that feeling of doom was really starting to build up now..
The aftermath..
No need for Hippy Startdust, Farmer Brown, Shiggsy or some snot nose work experience kid to guide you through what happened next, not when these snapshots show Rob Thomas's 'This is how a heart breaks' playing over and over here..
With Zorko in the deck, it still would have been close but also with a chance of luke warm chicken and ice cold champagne, celebrating the fact that we've snuck over the line and made it to the finals. But no..
Seriously though, hats off to some of the new recruits. Pittonet and Drew respectively. Especially when half of my GC team seemed to take their feet off the accelerator...
But yes, the high speed Zorko transmission not being there show's what happens when you need an all star performance comes crunch time...

(Only without my team and everyone else offering up various goods and services for my players who otherwise won't be doing much for the next few weeks.)
For Team Almigo though, it's only fair that we get into a glorious awards ceremony to celebrate this interesting see-saw of a journey. We're going to celebrate the best, the worst and those who came and went in a eye blink (there were a lot of them in that boat!)
