The computer's been banished and it's hand picking mode from here. We've
strengthened up the team already and hopefully we're match fit for this round.
Emphasis on hopefully.
WELL THAT WAS QUICK!
Yeah there's been a wave of injuries across the teams for round one in the AFL
and sadly the collection of grunts in the Flavorless Flav's aren't immune.
Defensive weapon Allir Allir is booked for ankle surgery so we have to bid him
farewell from the team. Thankfully one of his Port Adelaide stable mates is
available to fill the gap and had a cracker first round, so it's a case
of:
OUT: ALLIR ALLIR
IN: DARCY BYRNE-JONES
Represented by: Fabius Bile
Darce had a thumping first round of well over 100 points scored so he's a very
welcome addition to the defensive line plus he also fills the gap until
I work out (or more likely someone tells me) what's going on with Lever.
Welcome to the Flav's Darce!
WEDNESDAY ARVO BEFORE THE FIRST GAME OF ROUND TWO
Oh god, the injury light on my assistant is flashing. Okay trusty Servo skull,
what's the issue?
CONDITION REPORT IS AS FOLLOWS:
PLAYER LEVER, JAKE - FOOT INJURY AND SUBJECT TO FITNESS TEST.
PLAYER PRESTIA, DION - HAMSTRING INJURY. POSSIBLE RETURN ROUND 5 OR 6
PLAYER MARTIN, DUSTY - TAKING PERSONAL LEAVE
ALL OTHER PLAYERS PRESENT AND ACCOUNTED FOR AND SELECTED TO PLAY.
PLAYER DUNSTAN, LUKE - SELECTED AS EMERGENCY
Well that's not great is it? At least we know what happened to Lever now
before round one got underway. I read the article on Dusty's personal leave
today and no jokes here, I hope he deals okay with whatever's on his plate
at the moment. Dunstan can stay on the bench, that's fine. As for Prestia
well amazingly we lose one of the old guard...
OUT - PRESTIA
And gain another from last year!
IN - LUKE MCDONALD!
Another free agent who had one hell of a round one, notching up 140
points. He rejoins the team and swaps with McCluggage who scored less than
half last week.
And so now we look a little like:
I've done enough to put up a solid fight this week haven't I?
Haven't I?
Hums quietly to itself in machine code..
THE WASHOUT AFTER ROUND 2
Well I walked in with high hopes, confident in my teams ability. The only
trouble was, Tyson's team seemed a little more confident than mine. Some
players had a cracker round (as you'll read in just a sec) and well done to
Lance Franklin for kicking his 1000th goal too by the way, while others at
least turned up on game day - but even with one and only change bench wise I
could have made to increase my score (Replacing McCluggage with someone like
Dangerfield) it wouldn't have changed anything. By the time my last player
finished up, the gap between our scores was still widening in Tyson's favor.
FINAL RESULT - LOSS
Tysonic Hedgehogs win by 198 points, leaving me still 7th place on the
ladder.
Sigh, Alpha Delta hit me with the numbers then..
Computing...
Best on ground: Ziebell 122 points
Worst on ground: Hawkins 33 points
Top 3: Ziebell, Wright, McGovern
Bottom 3: Hawkins, Dangerfield, Byrne-Jones
Suggestions: McCluggage back in for round 3, replacing Dangerfield. If
Martin back in play for round 3, replace Hawkins.
Incredibly Hawkins was best
last round
and worst this one. Hopefully this scoring see-saw ends in this round. At
least we don't have any more injuries to add to the already depleted bench..
Well that I know of at this stage.
Wish me luck for round 3 then!
