The Breakfast Radio Diaries 124 - Not a barn belter brain busting barney at all

The rains rolled in across the weekend...practically everywhere I wasn't which was nice. On top of that someone's come up with the brilliant idea of throwing reality TV stars into a boxing ring and thanks to an idiot on Facebook, I'm now introducing myself to the company's legal department..

RAIN, RAIN GO AWA- OH WAIT

I'd expected it to rain all weekend and had even located the first season of 12 Monkeys from a few years ago to binge into when it did. But mere hours into my Saturday morning the sun appeared and then decided to actually stay in place this time, not sporadically play peek-a-boo with very heavy rain clouds. Which meant I got to spend some time outside which was unexpected - lifting models and painting barbells. No wait, I think it was the other way around.. (Mowing however was not on the agenda given how wet the grass was from the rain we have had.)

She seems fun!

For the record I did start my binge session of 12 Monkeys and things seem to be going well so far. I'm only a couple of episodes deep at this stage but apparently things are really going to lift from here (thanks for the recommendation boss!)

Also I'm still trying to work out if I like The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent with Nic Cage. I'm a Cage from from way back, I'm stoked at all the flashbacks and mentions of films across his career (such as The Rock and Con Air), I'm just not sure about this one. Still, nice to see him back in action one way or another.

'I'M JUST HERE TO WATCH THE TWO GUYS FROM THE TELLY TRY TO WAIL AND FLAIL ON EACH OTHER IN A POOR APPROXIMATION OF A BOXING MATCH.'

Another for the record - I've never watched reality TV and thought 'You know what, these two attention seeking people really despise each other. You know what would be good? If they settled their differences in a boxing ring!'
But someone obviously has and thought there was a market for it because this morning I read an article about four blokes from Married at First Sight (aka MAFS) strapping on the gloves and attempting to throw thundering rights and lefts at each other before one of them fell down in an boxing card over the weekend.

I don't remember their names (for the sake of the story let's just given them new ones based on things currently within my field of vision - so that's Speaker, Socket, Goblin and Vomit Coloured Paint) but someone booked Speaker to take on Socket and Goblin to take on Vomit (or was it the other way around?) based on animosities during the latest season. And while they tried not to trip over each other in the ring, apparently there were more MAFS contestants seated at nearby tables yelling encouragement or comparing Instagram follower counts, I forget which.

Anyway Stanley Knife beat Groot Statue and Super Glue edged out Arcade Lunchbox in a largely boring affair while the real boxers behind the scenes probably grumbled about reality stars attempting to cut their lunch even though there'd be very few in that crowd (apart from the former contestants) there to actually see these pair of bouts. Well done to whoever convinced these four to go at it but next time, can we up the stakes just a little?
Maybe an exploding ring rope Japanese Death match is in order? Who knows, I may actually watch an episode of reality TV again.

Er, possibly not. Apparently I've got a lot of 12 Monkeys to get through first.

GREAT COMMENT FROM THREE YEARS AGO, HERE HAVE A PRIZE!

Remember when Facebook was the bees knees, back when it was just about connecting with friends and family (and removing the need to physically see them more than once a year to learn the latest) and being able to poke and throw a sheep at them? Glorious times really.

But then the marketplace arrived and while it was full of occasional bargains, it also had it's fair share of drop kicks, not to mention it was haunted. And then there was a page for everything under the sun which dragged every scamming idiot under the floorboards sniffing for the completely unaware, trying to fish out those who'd only just waded into the confusing murk that is social media.

Right now we're dealing with a scammer who has really gone to great lengths to steal some details:

-They've made a page based on a popular Australian Radio announcer, right down to copying their statuses and mirroring their pictures on occasion to make their fake page look like the real deal, so that when you scroll down from the prize offer up top you think it's the real announcer contacting you.

-They comment on posts from over three years ago, offering up prizes to the unsuspecting. Obviously a lot has gone on between then and now which makes it harder for us to notice.

-Their website where you enter your details does look legit (save for the web address.)

Thankfully we're at that stage where if something sounds too good to be true (especially on social media) then it probably isn't and I had quite a few fans of the show send me messages via our station page asking what was going on. Especially when they got to the bit about entering a few more details than usual to claim their 'generous winfall.'

Luckily we've got a pretty savvy social media and legal team who are right onto things like this. You just send them a note, give them a link and they load up on as many digital cruise missiles as they can before unleashing them in a massive barrage to wipe these idiots off the face of the earth.
Or maybe it's shut down the website or something? To be honest I'm not entirely clear on the process but I'm happy to report that they're now armed with information and the wheels of internet justice are spinning, ready to roll over these dodgy idiots. Or something like that.

Until the next one of course. Be careful, there's always scammers out there ready to pounce

 Take care

-Almigo

The true meaning of Flo Rida's song 'Whistle'..

The whistle song? What's it about? Read on! Controversial I know but I'm about to reveal the true meaning behind the Whistle song by Flo Rida. Why? Because I'm getting the general feeling that people around me are really missing the true spirit of Mr Rida's epic masterpiece... We're getting right into the real Flo, yo. After all this time, it's still all about that wisal baby song!

Mortal Engines for the Emperor!

Now maybe it's just me and maybe I've read far too much into the Warhammer 40K lore and universe...but I'm seeing a lot of parallels between it and the now available on Netflix movie Mortal Engines..

Please don't ignore this massage

It's been a while between scam emails - life has been life, work has been hectic, I've been grunting and sweating my way through my exercise sessions and so I've been putting responding to random idiots through my email on the back burner.  Until today when I was kindly asked not to 'ignore this massage.' I hope it's a hot stone one! Trust me, I NEVER ignore a massage. Better set the record straight then...
