Bash for the Border - Round 20 - Last ticket to the dance

Well this is it, the last go around in what has been best described as a completely rubbish season for me as coach. 3 wins, 16 loses and not a hope in hell of making the finals next week even if half the other coaches somehow fell over.  But still, I've loved it. I've loved the footy chat around the office, the increased interest in players I barely new before, the smack talk over Facebook messenger, it's been glorious. As terrible as I've played this year (and last) I am really looking forward to doing it all over again come footy season 2023. But before that, I've got to put in my final team. And much to the chagrin of my opponent this week (hi Lobsters!) another coach has jumped on board with some timely news and suggestions...

Bash for the Border - Round 19 - Send it!

It wasn't just any victory last week, it was a crushing victory. And so much so that I'm really tempted to leave my team of destroyers just the way they are and hope for the same winning riot to break out again this round. Lighting can strike twice on the football field yes? Yes? Anyone?

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 080: Set sleep mode for three weeks

The alarms are off and staying quiet for the next few weeks, I've got my first holiday project to chew through (now that I have all the pieces) and how good were 80's cartoons?

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 079: One day to break

At home we've adverted disaster, at work we've found out what each other would do if money was no object. Oh and there's just a day left before we hit the eject button for a few weeks...

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 078: How many things do you want to ruin here?

There's two shows left before a pretty decent break, the big boss is in town listening intently and a bout of Covid has reared up ruining an 11th birthday party on the weekend. While that sounds like the script of a pretty average show on Netflix, it's actually another day in the life really*

Al builds a Formula One Car. Badly.

After really getting into Netflix's F1: Drive to Survive, I've decided to make a formula one car. Which as it does in the show, presents its fair share of problems along the way..

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 077: The distance between will you and I do

Today we went on the hunt for the Border's longest engagement, found Lu some powered sage and rejoiced as the kids finally went back to school...

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 076: Six years on

Nothing changes much in exactly six years does it? I'm still working in regional radio (albeit 300km+ down the road from the first location), still rocking this incredibly low maintenance hairstyle and hilariously, still wearing the exact same jacket a mere six years later..

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 075: A shout out to all the astronauts

When I was growing up I wanted to be a pilot, but the closest I got was a feat seats in Economy close. I also wanted to be a journalist but considering I talk about news stories on the show daily, that's pretty close yeah?

Bash for the Border - Round 18 - Who is this knocking at my door?

Last week like earlier this year, we had no Dusty . This week, well we still have no Dusty. But what I do have strangely is a woman outside my office wanting a little chat.. Ahh, come in?

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 074: Worth a replay

Like coming back to this page to read everything again (and again and again, thanks if that's you by the way!) some TV shows bare a second and even third re-watching session, possibly even a weekend binge. On top of that we discovered the appeal of an empty lake and I've made a big decision about some of my earlier writing work.

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 073: Clenched fists and snag prices raised

Massive news has rocked Australia, there was a landslide in our Fight For Your Flashback and our search for a Pony almost kicked off an all in..

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 072: Come fly with someone else

Today's it's all about animals in the streets, chaos in our airports and the fact that I haven't stopped talking since April 2000..

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 071: Alpaca's, peacocks and coffee shops

The weekend nights were cold but looked amazing but next time maybe I should scout around before getting down to business?

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 070: Drowning in a sea of neon

The week has ended, my shoulder is protesting and Lu loves the work of Chris Hemsworth. Any work really.

Mower Mania - an update a year on

It's been over a year since my triple mower bargain that was Mower Mania 2021 . And after all this time, are they still slicing, dicing and making short work of my lawn? Let's find out!* Wingardium Startemup! *Results may vary

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 069: I can't see clearly now

I got in the car just after 5am, fired up the engine, turned on the lights and only then did I notice the windscreen was completely iced over for the first time all year.  What fond memories this brought back too..

Bash for the Border - Round 17 - No Dust no trust

I ended the last post about the hapless Flavorless Flav's with this: Anyone else want to throw some bad news my way? :/ Well fate who happens to be a big fan of this blog read that and promptly lined up to kick me right in the knackers. Because once again I've got a week where Dusty won't be available..

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 068: Please don't crash into your team mate, cheers

My shoulder is on fire, I'm late to an F1 party, an idiot almost crashed into the Slowbaru and today we celebrated generosity. No wonder I'm tired.

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 067: Unicorns and battle blocks

Once upon a time I truly believed the statement 'Getting people to do anything on radio during school holidays is a tall order.' However I was happily corrected this morning. It all depends on what you ask..

The Breakfast Radio Diaries: No Talk Day

Today's entry has no number on account of the fact that I wasn't on air today. Neither was Lu. Or Guy or Leisha or any of the regulars. There was also no news, no traffic updates, no shows like ours and no ads played across the day.  Welcome to No Talk Day where we go silent for the day to encourage you to start talking.

Nada Fajita Tornadoes - Unlucky Seven

In the world's most confusing and somehow NFT related soccer team the Nada Fajita Tornadoes, seven more poor bastards have entered my team whether they wanted to or not.  Yes we've got to the point of this strange game where even if I sent out a squad of the worst idiots possible, I'm still gifted at the end of it with more players. Strangely no Goal Keepers though...

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 066: Cleared for landing

'This is what radio should be like' -Lu, after the week that was. Over 6.5k raised for charity, a time trip back to the 80's and Dangerfield (the lawnmower, not the player) is still louder than hell. Thank god it's Friday.
