  I arrived early in a Subaru, came face to face with a monster truck, lost a song challenge about driving and then came back to jump into a chicken suit. It truly is a hazardous working environment this radio thing...

I blinked and suddenly the show was over and we were planning the next. Like yesterday, there was so much happening that three hours ate themselves up before we knew it. And in the middle, I watched the world's fastest hypnosis while Pat Benetar got fired up..

I woke up with a start, frantically wondering why my phone was singing to me at 4:30am. Then it came to me as I switched it off, 'you're doing breakfast radio you clown, get up already!'. The shower didn't really wake me up and strangely neither did the walk. But a coffee and a couple of segments in and things clicked into place again. After a 1st gear start, we kicked into the higher ratios pretty soon after that..

I had my kids on as part of the show today, relaying their horse pick in the Albury Gold Cup. And while their time on air accounted for all of 10 seconds or so, they absolutely loved it. By the time they both hit 21, we're going to have a lot of audio to play on their celebration day!

The computer's been banished and it's hand picking mode from here. We've strengthened up the team already and hopefully we're match fit for this round. Emphasis on hopefully.

Whelp, I've injured a little finger and sworn at my phone. And this is a good hour and a half before I even got into today's show!

I'll never buy an oodle but I do have some possible ideas..

Today's lesson with the technology we're using - once an ad break gets rolling, nothing short of a miracle or a power failure is going to stop that break from finishing its epic journey...\

By all accounts, I should probably be napping away right about now. But the coffee was strong, the vibe for the show was stronger and by the time I blinked, it was suddenly seconds away from ending. A good show is one that flies by and this one had both turbo's huffing away perfectly.

  Footy is back, the team is ready and the good news is - we're injury free! Well for now anyway...

It's been a short week work wise, it's been a huge week launch wise. And rather than just stroll home, engage the recliner as far as it can go and sleep the entire rest of Friday after my first week back on breakfast radio after forever, it's straight into the car with a three hour drive ready to celebrate the wife's 40th.  And a lot of the way I've had Joey Scarbury in my head..

Want to wake up in a hurry? Stick your head under the cold stream of the shower and then turn the hot water on. Works every time! Also why is it when you start something new, everything around it suddenly ramps up the activity and social outings? Everything happens when you're running on an empty tank..

I got some more sleep, only waking once. The alarm beat the cat. I listened to a finance podcast on the walk to work instead of hardcore hip hop and didn't drive through any walls.  Even though my song choice of Survivor's Eye of the Tiger didn't get a spin, in the immortal words of Ice Cube - today was a good day.

It's been a solid and very busy 7 years since I was last in the breakfast radio chair. And now I'm relearning everything from the ground up. Like today when I over-hyped myself up to the point where I kept tripping over things..

Well it seemed like only yesterday when we cleared out the empty bottles and unconscious players after awards night after the drop down drag out slug fest that was The Coach With the Most Supercoach battle, but suddenly we're all standing on that footy mad doorstop once again ready to go again. I even made a graphic this time! This season, there's most coaches (those 8 handsome buggers above). And a longer competition. We've got draft day coming up in a heartbeat and the coach draft order has been decided by a random horse race in New Zealand for some reason. I'm predicting big things and plenty of heartbreak in either order as once again I try to pick the right players to win this fantasy football (AFL) challenge. Strap yourself in folks, this will be dizzying stuff!

A cooking blog? Hardly. But this easy to knock up, Friday night air fried delight was too good not to share and if I can get this tester snack right then you've got no excuse!
