The Breakfast Radio Diaries 155 - Long hot apologetic summer

So the price of Christmas lunch and dinner is set to rise because we can't find enough oysters, the reserve bank of Australia has come out and apologised for not making things as clear as they should be and we're just two sleeps away from summer and boy oh boy am I glad I'm locked and loaded with a BBQ just in time for it..

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 154 - Up to level 6!

Today we said goodbye to Irene Cara, looked at the best album covers ever made and on a more personal note, today I'm recommending the life focus app Level Up Life.  (Oh and in case you were wondering, this was not  one of the ones that came up in the best album covers chat..)

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 153 - A slight delay in broadcasting

So this is Friday's update written on a Sunday. Because Friday was chaotic (work, Black Friday, life etc) plus we had the staff Christmas party and because of that big night, I was in no state of mind to get to writing yesterday.  Action shot from said party. So now that I've had some sleep, welcome to Friday's update a couple of days out.

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 151 - The beginning of the end of an era

No it's not me quitting my radio career anytime soon (not unless an incredibly lucrative offer in a new career path drops into my lap) but rather the blogging side of things here at Adventures of Almigo.  The good news is what's here will remain here forever more, I'm just moving my attentions to paid hosting on the other side of the internet and have already started on the building phase of the new site..

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 150 - Six years on and so much ground covered

As annoying as Facebook can be at times (many times) today it's reminded me of when I took a huge step in not only my career but also my life, bundling up everything we had and making the huge move to the Gold Coast in Australia.  Yeah exactly six years ago I bid a tearful farewell to this place pictured and off we went for a trip that was equal parts exhilaration, frustration, triumph and moments of self doubt. There were tough and lean times for the family, there were experiences I never thought in a million lifetimes I'd end up doing.  But for all the things that went bang (and not in a good way) I'm glad I took the plunge because there got me here where I am today and currently I'm quite happy with that.

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 149 - 700 round trip klicks and counting

One car, one tram, two trains, two states of Australia, three pizzas, two beers, over 700 kilometres covered and the world's worst hot dog near the end of it.  So that was my Sunday, how was yours?

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 148 - Blood on the tools

Remember how I had three things on this weeks fix it list ? Well I'm happy to report that the son's computer is working better than ever, so that's great. Also my wife's car is full of fresh oil now...after a one hour job turned into a six and a half hour job and ended up with me bleeding all over the place... Sigh. Nothing ever goes to plan does it?

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 147 - Do not crash!

Flying solo today on the show due to a bout of possible food poisoning, I'm happy to report that I didn't crash the show into the nearest wall. Not me! Not today! Also I fixed 33% of Yesterday's issues so that's a bonus..

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 146 - Doctor, Mechanic, IT Guru

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Turns out there's a few things 'broke' so I'm rolling up the sleeves to get things patched up! What does this thing do again?

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 145 - Full learning experience

In a competition to give away $5000 we were calling out a street that didn't actually exist anywhere on the Border. Luckily the people who lived where we were supposed to be talking about figured it out pretty quickly and got us back on the right path.  Also we found a cafe where only one sized coffee is king (because that's the only sized brew they do!)

Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals in Australia 2022

Every year I go to make this list, every year I forget. But at the time of writing I'm 11 days early so let's do this! Welcome to an updated list of Black Friday sales across Australia in 2022 where I'm planning to knock out my Xmas shopping list nice and early and hopefully you can find a bargain here too! Updated daily as new info comes to hand!

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 144 - And then the rains came down

On Saturday we had a lovely feed of fish and chips from Greg's Takeaway in Wodonga, ate them over the road at Junction Square and then the rains came down. Yesterday we were there for my nieces christening (which was a first for both of us!), then a celebratory feed at a mansion in Jinderra...and then the rains came down.  Which made it no surprise at all to come to work this morning after an active weekend and spend most of the show talking about blocked off roads and flooded areas. The phones went into meltdown mode and at one stage crashed with all the calls on flooded areas and blocked off roads.  Welcome to Albury-Wodonga, beautiful one day but partially under water the next.

Welcome to The 600 club

Quiet celebrations are in order today having just realised that after yesterday's post, we're now over 600 posts and counting so far here at Adventures of Almigo and there's no signs whatsoever of slowing down or stopping anytime soon.. Even the harshest critics are impressed!

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 143 - Video killed the radio star

It's been a decent sized week with plenty going on both at and outside of work. Hell, even the household cat Kiki is tired. And rather than bog you down with daily details just before the weekend, how about we reminisce about awesome 80's film clips/ music videos instead? Sounds good? Let's go!

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 142 - Celebrity Meta Pirates

This site has gone Meta but not in a failed Facebook way, Weird Al's got some great advice if you're in Australia and want to watch his new film and we dive deep into our own phones for photos with celebrities such as these:

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 141 - No power in this happy hour

First it was a lack of easy to access water across the weekend. Today the power was cut to swap a few poles over. Whatever is coming next, I'm hoping it's not a cap on sunshine because I'm truly loving that at the moment..

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 140 - Free books and fine brews

Today you can have one of my books for free, everything smells like perfume and I suddenly have a BBQ shaped hole in my life thanks to the sudden change in weather.  View from the work window this morning

The Hack goes free...for a week!

It's been forever since I last made one of my books free for a limited time and since Black Friday, Cyber Monday and all the sale days are just around the corner, why not now? So from now until November 11 2022 11:59PM Pacific Standard Time, you can grab the first book in this action packed trilogy FOR NOTHING.

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 139 - No water, no juice

It seems Fate isn't finished having a laugh at my expense just yet, deciding over the weekend that we needed to go on a camping trip...in the comfort of our own home.  Oh and the electricity is going to be shut off temporarily, because why not? The good news is, I can smell miso this morning!

Prometheus - Better the 2nd time around

Sometimes it's good to go back. And since I don't have a working time machine (or know anyone who does), a Friday night scrolling through Disney+ will have to do. This time it's Prometheus getting the re-watch treatment and high time too because I recalled precious little from the first viewing circa 2012-2013 and what I do remember I'm confusing with parts of Alien Covenant  (which really wasn't great to begin with.)    Turns out there's a lot more good bits to appreciate all these years on..

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 138 - Man on a bridge

It's been a solid six months since I last strolled to walk in the wee hours of a workday morning, but after the frustrations of yesterday I needed to stretch my legs. Albury NSW, you're just as pretty at night as you are during the day.  (Okay, obviously the graffiti isn't...gimme a sec to find a nicer pic from this morning..)

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 137 - Not the news I needed at all :/

'It's the head gasket.'  And suddenly my six month Subaru ownership came to a sudden expensive halt with just four little words today. Because it already had the head gasket replaced nine years ago by the previous owner and here we go again. And after spending enough money already on it, I'm not willing to sink even more thousands I don't have in it for the sake of something else suddenly falling over :/ Damn cars.  Anyway, how's your Thursday?

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 136 - Keep it simple stupid

While I didn't bet yesterday on the Melbourne Cup , my wife did - picking a horse that I would have immediately glossed over thanks to form and watching it come home in a big way. Just another nice reminder that sometimes we over complicate things far more than we need to..

The Breakfast Radio Diaries 135 - Not off and racing?

Excuse me, can someone tell me where my excitement for the Melbourne Cup went? It was rampant for a bit and now it's all but dissipated..
